Introduction

Nexus Dashboard

About this Lab!

The Cisco Nexus Dashboard is the unified platform for hosting Cisco's future data center management applications. It is based on a modern, microservices-based architecture and brings the same user experience to all services incorporated in it, such as Orchestrator and Insights.

Your Nexus Dashboard lab environment will be pre-provisioned for this session, so you can experience hands-on from the ground up. You'll learn how easy it is to complete setup, onboard devices, and create a variety of fabric types-including Greenfield (new) deployments, Brownfield (existing) deployments, external connectivity, Multi-Site, and Inter-Site fabrics. All of this is managed through Nexus Dashboard's powerful embedded automation for VXLAN EVPN fabrics.

You'll also play the role of a network automation engineer, where you'll use automation tools such as Cisco Network as Code to configure VXLAN EVPN Multi-Site fabrics. This removes operational overhead and manual intervention so that you have time for more important activities.

In this lab, we leverage Cisco Modeling Lab (CML) to model this lab. Each pod has a consist of:

  • Two Nexus Dashboard Clusters, representing two Data Centers
  • Site1: A Greenfield (brand new) fabric
  • Site2: A Brownfield (already existing) fabric
  • ExtL3: An external connectivity segment
  • Inter-Site Network (ISN) - This will represent the core router
  • MultiSite Environment to have the ability to stretch VRFs and VLANs across Data Centers
  • Linux servers are connected to all the leaf switches in Site1 and Site2 for data plane testing in each type of fabric after Nexus Dashboard automates their deployment.

Nexus Dashboard delivers full lifecycle management, automation, and deep visibility of Cisco Nexus. It also supports multi-fabric environments-including LAN, SAN, and IP Fabric for Media-and introduces advanced monitoring, compliance, and troubleshooting capabilities, all controlled through a single, unified interface.

At the top of the start of each section, there is a progression bar to indicate where you are currently in the lab:
